the first person to be burned at thhe stake was not in the 1700′s because of Anne Askew, 1500′s . And Joan of Arc, 1300/1400′s.

@66Shellz Which horror film will do that?

@noahwayne Point taken, however it was the minds of people in power that had a hand in religion. Oh and it was mainly women who were burned rarely men, Matthew Hopkins did it during the English Civil War as a way to earn a quick, shilling or crown, he preyed on the vulnerable, the infirm, the deformed and where the public favour would lie either through superstitions or because of again Power & money. Women were also sold at markets like cattle as a way to be divorced by their husbands.

What a sick world it was back then. It angers me to watch this video even though it is just a movie but to believe this actually happened to inocent people. Religion has a lot to answer for..

@666rulerofclones The music track is called ‘ Time ‘ by Hans Zimmer. More women were burned at the stake than men throughout history.
666rulerofclones said on 22/Feb/2012@12:01 am
What is the music used during the first scene?
Even though it’s a movie scene, the thought of that makes me sick.

all so called religions are man made.religion simplay means we work our way by doing good works to get to heaven, but the god of the bible is the true way an not a relgion.the bible declares its not by works that we attain heaven its by what jesus who is god done for us on the cross.so all of the religions have that in common except most christian faiths which belive in the finished work of jesus.

@666rulerofclones More to do with a structure of dominance & power. There were men who loved women, so there were women with some status and power, but on a whole women were basically the ‘ helper ‘ of men, more like slaves! Comes from religion. Psychopaths & Narccists in ‘ top dog ‘ positions didn’t care that much and weaker sexes got it in the neck, so their influence trickled down the lines to other men, so women were a scape goat as all men had power over women, So more women got punished.
666rulerofclones said on 22/Feb/2012@12:01 am
@66Shellz Thanks. I was not aware more women were. Why was that?
66Shellz said on 22/Feb/2012@12:01 am
@666rulerofclones Yes, exactly. A slave had no rights not even for their life, they could only appeal to their master’s indulgence & generosity. Women i history that were not slaves, as the slave class went, they had only certain rights, but this rights ultimately benefited the male, not the female in total, especially of a sexual nature, women’s sexuality wasn’t recognized, only recognition for the men & marriage.

@noahwayne Does anybody really think that in the absence of religious belief, people would not hurt one another? Seriously? Really?

@noahwayne Human nature has a lot to answer for. Does anybody really think these things DIDNT happen prior to recorded history? Does anybody think that horrible tortures and executions DIDNT happen before organized religion? Does anybody think these things or equally horrible things DIDNT happen in the supposedly, officially atheistic Communist regimes? People have done horrible, horrible things to other people all over the world, throughout history, for a variety of “official” reasons…

@noahwayne Ah, the power of belief and the use of power areas for control of the people, all for the power addicted hungry ( top cats ). Belief is actually a healing tool that naturally occurs in all humans, but there are those that would use it for their own sick needs. The narcisst & psychopaths. All psychopaths are narcisstic but not all narcisst’s are psychopathic.

@JessicaLouiseMusic I didn’t say that, what i said was the first RECORDED female burning at the stake was Mary Fawson in 1735. This would be criminal execution records not historical records of famous burnings at the stake of females. Most people are aware that Mary I ( Bloody Mary – Mary Tudor ) burnt many males & females in the 1500′s because of religion.

Native Americans and if what I’ve read is accurate, the Soviets (not Christian by ANY stretch) used burning as well. A Soviet traitor was burned alive in a crematorium, and American Indians roasted people over a slow fire. Not to mention the Greek guy who ordered the making of the bronze bull. @HowDareThey1970 Ask yourself one question – Would Jesus have burnt anyone or tortured anyone in this way? Its mans misuse of religion that is the issue here and remains to be so even today.
