Gorilla Tool Use First born Oldest in captivity Guinness World Records book 2011

Posted by | Posted in Ohio Court Records | Posted on 10-02-2011

Video shows tool use in the gorilla. The video begins with a large male silverback gorilla showing interest in and chasing female gorillas. One of the females climbs up the cage and grasps a stick. She then uses this to pull some leaves into the cage. Soon she decides that the stick isnt long enough, so she reaches outside the cage and grasps a much longer, well shaped stick. She can use this one easily because it is straight and has no branches, so that it is easy to stick through the cage wire. As a person would, she climbs up the cage holding the stick in her mouth. She then uses the stick in the same posture a human would to help her grab some leaves. The silverback goes back to chasing females. In the second portion of the video, Colo is shown seated in from of a drum she is using for a table as she eats breakfast, much as a person uses a table. Colo is the world’s first gorilla born in captivity and the oldest known gorilla. She is an amazing world record holder for many additional reasons. Colo gave birth to Emmy, the first second-generation gorilla born in captivity and became a grandmother when Cora, the first third-generation gorilla, was captive born. In addition, for ten years, Colo’s grandsons, Mosuba and Macombo II, were the only gorilla twins born in the western hemisphere! Colo is also the great grandmother of Timu, the first surviving gorilla conceived by artificial insemination. The 2011Guinness World Records book shows that Colo is the world’s oldest

What Are Your Thoughts On The Governments Shift In Its Approach To Deporting People Illegally In The U.S.?

Posted by | Posted in Ohio Court Records | Posted on 11-12-2010

The Obama administration is changing the federal immigration enforcement strategy in ways that reduce the threat of deportation for millions of illegal immigrants, even as states such
as Arizona, Colorado, Virginia, Ohio and Texas are pushing to accelerate deportations.
The changes focus enforcement on immigrants who have committed serious crimes, an effort to unclog immigration courts and detention centers. A record backlog of deportation cases has forced
illegal aliens to wait an average 459 days for their hearings, according to
an Aug. 12 report by Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), which analyzes government data.

Among the recent changes:

• Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton ordered agency officials on Aug. 20 to begin dismissing deportation cases against people who haven’t committed
serious crimes and have credible immigration applications pending.

• A proposed directive from Morton posted on ICE’s website for public comment last month would generally prohibit police from using misdemeanor traffic stops to send people to ICE.
Traffic stops have led to increased deportations in recent years,
according to Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center
for Immigration Studies, a think tank whose research supports tighter
enforcement.

The directive said exceptions would be made in certain cases, such as when the illegal aliens have serious criminal records.

• ICE officers have been told to “exercise discretion” when deciding whether to detain “long-time lawful permanent residents, juveniles, the immediate family members of U.S. citizens,
veterans, members of the armed forces and their families, and others
with illnesses or special circumstances,” Daniel Ragsdale, ICE executive
associate director of management, testified July 1 in the
administration’s lawsuit to block Arizona’s controversial immigration
law. The law requires police officers to determine the immigration
status of suspects stopped for another offense if there was a
“reasonable suspicion” they are in the USA illegally. A U.S. district
judge has held up the provision pending review.

• A draft memo from ICE’s sister agency, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, to Morton discussed ways the administration could adjust regulations so certain groups, such as
college students and the spouses of military personnel, could legalize
their status or at least avoid deportation if Congress doesn’t pass
comprehensive immigration reform. USCIS rules on applications for visas,
work permits and citizenship. USCIS spokesman Christopher Bentley said
the memo was intended to stimulate brainstorming on how to legalize
illegal aliens if new laws aren’t passed.
The administration’s new direction puts it at odds with those who believe the nation’s immigration laws should be strictly enforced and that all illegal aliens should be deported.

ICE is “thumbing its nose at the law,” said Rep. Steve King of Iowa, the top Republican on the House immigration subcommittee.

The changes have also drawn complaints from immigration advocates. They say deportations under Obama are at record highs and immigrants who remain behind are living in limbo, without work
permits, Social Security cards or driver’s licenses.

“This isn’t a free ticket,” said Raed Gonzalez, a Houston attorney who saw cases against his clients dropped last month. “The government can put them back into proceedings at any time.”
Morton said in an interview that the new strategy is smarter, not softer, enforcement. At a time when more than 10 million people are in the country illegally, record sums are spent on
enforcement and the federal budget faces huge deficits, it makes
sense to the government.
Do you think this is the right way to do this ?
Why no mention of border enforcement at all?
Give me your views please.

Why were the 1890 census fire remains destroyed?

Posted by | Posted in Ohio Court Records | Posted on 04-12-2010

The Eleventh United States Census was taken June 2, 1890. Most of the 1890 census was destroyed in 1921 during a fire in the basement of the Commerce Building in Washington, D.C.

The 1890 census was the first to be compiled using methods invented by Herman Hollerith; data was entered on a machine readable medium, punched cards, and tabulated by machine. This introduction of technology reduced the time taken to tabulate the census from eight years for the 1880 census to one year for the 1890 census. The total population of 62,947,714 was announced after only six weeks of processing. The public reaction to this tabulation was disbelief, as it was widely believed that the “right answer” was at least 75,000,000.

This census is one of the three for which the original data is no longer available. Almost all the population schedules were damaged in a fire in 1921, with 25% destroyed and 50% damaged by smoke and water. The damage to the records led to an outcry for a permanent National Archives. In December 1932, according to standard Federal record keeping procedure at the time, the Chief Clerk of the Bureau of the Census sent the Librarian of Congress a list of papers to be destroyed, including the original 1890 census schedules. The Librarian was asked by the Bureau to identify any records which should be retained for historical purposes but the Librarian did not accept the census records. Congress authorized destruction of that list of records on February 21, 1933 and thus the 1890 census remains were destroyed by government order by 1934 or 1935. The other censuses that have lost almost all information were the 1800 and 1810 enumerations.

Why was the remains destroyed? From everything I have read, the “B” cities and the “C” cities were sparingly damaged and very few towns were even damaged. They were all alphabetized starting by the first letter of the city and then the second and so on until they were evenly organized. I live in Cincinnati Ohio, and I can not find very much information on my Great-Great Grandma. If need be, my Great-Great Grandmother was born in Germany, her name was Amanda Limbert (NOT LAMBERT) and she was married to George LUECKE and they had 16 childern. If you need anymore information just ask me, but I really need to find her information.
P.S. Ancestry doesn’t help. >.<

Juvenile Record Leaked to Google-Help!?

Posted by | Posted in Ohio Court Records | Posted on 23-11-2010

I am 21. I had a juvenile record which I was told was expunged when I turned 18. I assumed this was true since I passed both a BCII and FBI background check last year to get my teaching certificate. I Googled myself yesterday and found that the entire judgment of my appeal is available in PDF from the Ohio State Supreme Court website. I don’t believe it is appropriate for them to release that information to the public, whether the records were sealed or not, because it was a juvenile case and my identity should not have been released. I have contacted the juvenile court to start the expungement process. Should I sue the State Supreme Court to make them take that off the internet? What else can I do to get it removed and make sure it doesn’t happen again?
