I’m dating this new guy, and things are going great, but my intuition tells me there’s something I need to know before getting too serious. We ran into a woman at the mall who kept staring at us and he claimed she was an ex girfriend, but I think she was more like his ex wife. I know his full name (obviously), and other basic info to run a background check, but I don’t wanna get jipped and pay for a service that will give me inconclusive results. What’s the best service I can use to obtain this info, without having to hire a P.I., or jump to conclusions and break up with him?
I have a relative who recently discovered the state he was born in (TN) misspelled his name on a copy of his birth certificate, evidently the name for the state record was entirely changed. If he orders another copy, the spelling will remain incorrect.
His Social Security card and all other formal records are under the correct name. However, when he moved to another state, he had to order a copy of his birth certificate, which is what the DMV required. As a result, he now has the wrong name on his driver’s license.
The only option he’s been given is a formal name change, which is fairly ridiculous considering the amount of documentation he has with the correct spelling. He was also told he would be responsible for paying to correct the state’s mistake.
Is his only option really to go through that kind of process to simply have the state place the correct information on his birth certificate? He has no desire to change his name, just the way they misspelled it.
It seems like it should be illegal to change an individual’s name on vital records to something incorrect or invalid. In many places, he can’t even use checks because the spelling on his driver’s license doesn’t match the proper spelling, which he’s always used for work and for banking.
Any help will be most appreciated.
Thanks all.
Yes, he vividly recalls the original his mother held. It did indeed have his name spelled correctly on it. Otherwise, he certainly couldn’t have gotten a Social Security card or anything else with the correct name on them.
Unfortunately, his mother lost her copy, which is why he needed a copy.
