I READ THE FOLLOWING ONLINE NEWS ARTICLE, AND WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD. BLACK LAWMAKERS HAVE BEEN UNDER EXTRA SCRUTINY SINCE OBAMA’S ELECTION, WE’VE ALL SEEN THIS, SO DON’T CALL THIS PULLING THE RACE CARD. I’M NOT HERE TO SUPPORT A GREEDY POLITICIAN’S SCHEME, BUT THESE CASES HAVE BECOME TOO PREVALENT TO DISMISS AS MERE COINCIDENCE. www.bvblackspin.com & blackpoliticalthought.blogspot.com ________________________________________________________ Lawyers Seek New Sentence for Former Mayor Date: Friday, March 04, 2011, 6:08 am By: Denise Stewart, BlackAmericaWeb.com Lawyers for a former mayor in a small Louisiana town have asked a judge to reconsider a seven-year sentence handed down last week. In May 2010, Bobby Higginbotham, the former mayor of Waterproof, Louisiana, was convicted of malfeasance in office and felony theft and taken immediately to jail. “He had no previous record, but because he has traveled extensively, they used that to say he could be a flight risk,” said Harry Daniels III, Higginbotham’s lawyer. On Feb. 24, he was sentenced and returned to jail and has been locked up now a total of nine months, according to his lawyer and court records. Daniels said the request for reconsidering was sent by mail on Thursday, and the decision will be at the discretion of the judge in the case. Higginbotham’s conviction and sentence stem from charges that he increased his salary from 000 a year to 000 a year without authorization from the town council and

Washington State Speeding Ticket – should I go to court?

Posted by | Posted in Washington Court Records | Posted on 02-01-2012

Question by mad cabbages: Washington State Speeding Ticket – should I go to court?
I received a ticket last Friday on a washington state highway between Spokane and Pullman. The officer asked me how fast I was going and I told him I was doing 10 over. I received a ticket for $ 113 and was told I could contest in court.

I’ve never had a speeding ticket before – if I were to go to court, what are some tips? Could I get this ticket removed from my record?
Could the fee be lessened? What should I say?

Best answer:

You admitted to speeding, you have no case. And cops do not make up tickets. Going to court would only add court fees to your fines. Just pay it off.

Discovery Channel gunman shot

Posted by | Posted in Washington Court Records | Posted on 22-11-2011

www.stuff.co.nz A man who railed against the Discovery Channel’s environmental programming for years burst into the company’s headquarters with at least one explosive device strapped to his body on Wednesday and took three people hostage at gunpoint before police shot him to death, officials said. The hostages – two Discovery Communications employees and a security guard – were unhurt after the four-hour standoff. Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger said tactical officers moved in after officers monitoring the man on building security cameras saw him pull out a handgun and point it at a hostage. An explosive device on the gunman’s body detonated when police shot him, Manger said. Police were trying to determine whether two boxes and two backpacks the gunman had also contained explosives. A law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing said authorities had identified James J. Lee as the likely suspect. Police had not released the gunman’s identity. County Police and firefighters Wednesday night looked at a laptop screen that showed an image of a body lying face-up, surrounded by blood. Authorities also sent in a robot to disarm the explosive on the gunman’s body. Police Capt. Paul Starks said the suspect had shot a gun at least once. He also said police believe the suspect was acting alone but are investigating all possibilities. NBC News reported that after its producers called Discovery’s general number, a man

Fed Bank Documents Revealed

Posted by | Posted in Washington Court Records | Posted on 15-05-2011

WASHINGTON — As financial markets shuddered and then nearly imploded in 2008, the Federal Reserve opened its vault to the world on a scope much wider and deeper than previously disclosed. Citigroup, struggling to stay afloat, sought help from the Fed at least 174 times during one remarkable 13-month period. Barclays, the British bank, at one point owed nearly billion to the Fed. Even better-off banks like Goldman Sachs took advantage of Fed loans offered at rock-bottom rates. The Fed’s efforts to stave off a financial crisis reached far beyond Wall Street, touching manufacturers like General Electric, the Detroit automakers and Harley-Davidson, central banks from Britain to Japan and insurers and pension funds in Sweden and South Korea. Under orders from Congress, the Fed on Wednesday released details of more than 21000 transactions under the array of emergency lending programs and other arrangements it conjured up in response to the crisis. The disclosures, which the Fed had resisted, offer the most detailed portrait of a panicky period in which the Fed lent money to banks, brokers, businesses and investors to keep the financial system functioning. The documents show that some of the biggest names in American business were either coming to the Fed in need of a bailout, or trying to make money at a time when the Fed was trying to entice investors back into the markets. Among the latter were prominent investors and entrepreneurs like John A. Paulson and Michael S. Dell
