A Wisconsin man opened fire on police during a six-hour standoff at a house, killing one officer and critically wounding another, authorities said. Police in Fond du Lac were called to the house around 6:30 am Sunday to investigate a sexual assault. Shortly after they arrived, the suspect started shooting at the officers, a news release said. Laster, 21 were each charged with four counts of first-degree intentional homicide, one count of arson to a building and one count of being felons in possession of a firearm. The men are accused of helping Laster’s girlfriend, Brittney M. Robertson, kill Rachel M. Thompson and her sons Torian Thompson-Carter, 4, and Jaden Thompson-Carter, 3, on Feb. 26, 2010 in the apartment Robertson and Thompson shared. Barnes was most recently released from prison Feb. 9, when he finished his prison sentence for his involvement in a 2007 armed robbery attempt.Since 2004, Barnes also has been convicted of misappropriation of personal identification, disorderly conduct, operating a vehicle while fleeing or eluding an officer, and taking and driving a vehicle without consent, according to court records. Laster was released from prison Nov. 17, according to police and the Department of Corrections.
