Obama to Bush: I Can Release Your Records. Don’t Like It? Sue.
On his first day in office, President Obama put former president Bush on notice. His administration just released an executive order that will make it difficult for Bush to shield his White House records–and those of former Vice President Dick Cheney–from public scrutiny by invoking the doctrine of executive privilege. Shortly after taking office, Bush handed down his own executive order, amending the Presidential Records Act to give current and past presidents, along with their heirs, veto power over the release of presidential records, which are considered the property of the American people.
“[Obama]‘s putting former presidents on notice that if you want to continue a claim of executive privilege that [Obama] doesn’t think is well-placed, you’re going to have to go to court,” says Anne Weismann, the chief counsel for Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW).
Yes they are Pubic records.!!

I hope so, but I’m sure much has already been destroyed or will be before it can be released. A full disclosure of all the Bush files would expose the most criminal administration in American history. That was a good first step by Obama. I am honestly surprised.
I like this last piece of legislation by President Bush. It’s going to be hard for Obama to overturn. Clearly a victory for America on this one.
I think Bush knew this and ordered as many shredders as possible from Office Max.

Frankly, I would be satisfied if Cheney and Idiot Son just went away and left us alone. 8 years of seeing and hearing them was enough for me.
interesting, intelligent question…eventually, most of the secret records of the bush administration will come out, and this will give proof that we (the american public) were lied to (violating moral trust) and the war crimes were premeditated. History will show boy george to be our worst president ever.

Having a vendetta against the outgoing president is a dangerous precedent. Bush could have taken Clinton to the woodshed over the pardon Clinton gave Rich but Bush chose to move forward and avoid confrontational bickering which only serves to divide the country.
